Find and Replace Text rewrites every occurrence of a term or a regular expression and tells you how many matches it changed, which is the number that catches a pattern doing more than you intended. Literal replacement is the everyday case: rename a term across meeting notes, standardise a spelling, retire an old brand name. Pattern replacement is the reason the page exists: ticket codes, dates and order numbers follow shapes, and one expression can rewrite all of them in a single pass instead of a careful afternoon. Regular expressions run in a background worker with a ten-second ceiling, so a catastrophic pattern is terminated rather than left to hang the browser. Replacement text follows JavaScript rules, including the dollar syntax that inserts the whole match and the doubled dollar that produces a literal one, and the page says so before you rely on it. A paste above five hundred thousand characters is refused up front, and nothing is uploaded.
