Crop PDF

Trim PDF pages by margins or an exact box, with the cut previewed.

Browser onlyYour data never leaves this device.

Loading, box math, and encoding all run in your browser, in a background worker when available. The document never leaves the device and the original is never changed.

One non-encrypted PDF up to 100 MB and 1,000 pages.

Points cut off every edge of each selected page.

Crop margins in points

Cropping sets each page's visible box: content outside it disappears from conforming viewers but stays inside the file. This hides, it never erases — do not use it to redact secrets. Nothing is uploaded; the original is never changed.

Crop PDF adjusts the visible viewport of document pages by trimming outer margins or applying an exact coordinate bounding box, providing an immediate cut preview before you download. Unlike PDF Page Size Converter, which rescales or reformats entire sheets between standard paper sizes like A4 and Letter, Crop PDF trims away unwanted scanner borders, printer registration marks, and oversized margins while preserving the natural scale of internal vector graphics and typography. A crucial technical boundary governs the process: cropping alters the standard CropBox attribute rather than deleting underlying vector data, meaning concealed text and graphics remain in the file structure and cannot serve as secure redaction. The engine accepts one unencrypted PDF up to one hundred megabytes and one thousand pages, executing all geometry checks locally inside a dedicated Web Worker within sixty seconds. Margins accept whole points from zero to 1440 points, while explicit boxes support coordinates up to 10000 points. If an aggressive crop collapses a page below one point, the validator rejects the operation and identifies the offending page number.

How to use Crop PDF

  1. Upload one PDF file up to 100 MB and 1,000 pages into the work area.
  2. Select whether to crop all pages or define a specific subset using comma-separated ranges.
  3. Choose Margins mode to shave points off borders, or Box mode to designate an exact coordinate rectangle.
  4. Enter integer point values (0–1,440 pt for margins, or up to 10,000 pt for coordinates).
  5. Verify the visual preview to ensure the crop box does not clip crucial content or collapse the page.
  6. Click Crop PDF to generate and download the updated document within the 60-second worker budget.

What you get

  • A new PDF whose pages show only the box or margins you chose, with the rest hidden rather than erased.
  • A per-page preview of the cut before you commit, so an off-centre box is visible first.
  • A rejection when a selected page cannot keep a positive box, naming the page.

When to use Crop PDF

  • Trim scanner shadows off every page of a scanned bundle.
  • Cut a uniform header strip from exported slides.
  • Focus each page of a diagram set on one exact rectangle.
  • Trim the scanner's grey edge from a batch of receipts without touching the text inside them.

Frequently asked questions about Crop PDF

Does cropping permanently erase the removed text and images?

No. Cropping only sets the visible CropBox attribute in the PDF specification; hidden elements remain inside the document structure, so never use this tool to redact confidential records.

What file size and page limits apply to Crop PDF?

The tool accepts a single unencrypted PDF document up to 100 MB in file size and containing up to 1,000 pages per operation.

How do Margins mode and Box mode differ?

Margins mode trims integer points (0–1,440 pt) from the top, right, bottom, and left edges uniformly, while Box mode defines an explicit rectangle (x, y, width, height) measured from the bottom-left origin.

How does Crop PDF differ from PDF Page Size Converter?

PDF Page Size Converter changes the overall physical dimensions or scales content between sheet standards (like A4 and Letter), while Crop PDF slices away outer margins without changing content scale.

What happens if a crop margin exceeds a page's dimensions?

The geometry engine inspects every page before processing; if margins leave less than 1 pt of visible space or an explicit box exceeds boundaries, the run halts and names the exact failing page.
